“I just completed the 6-day Northlands tour with Mototours.nz and had an absolute blast!

I’ve ridden some amazing places on previous solo trips but have shied away from group tours prior to this one due to concerns about structure and complicated travel logistics. I decided to give this a shot largely because I rented a F700 from Randal my first time in NZ and really appreciated the significant amount of time he invested in providing me with high quality route recommendations. I’m 100% satisfied with my decision to do so.

New Zealand is a truly amazing place to ride/visit in its own right, but adding two genuine and experienced guides in Phil and Randal made the trip even better. Their local knowledge and support allowed me to explore areas and routes I would have been hesitant to attempt solo. Old Russel Road and 90 mile beach are particularly special. I felt it was a very good balance between challenging riding and opportunities to take in the scenery. Food and accommodation were on point as well.

One additional note for my fellow flat-landers (Texan here), NZ distances do not equate to what I’m accustomed to at home. What looks to be a short 100-150 mile day can easily be an invigorating 4-5 hours through twisties, gravel sections, and elevation changes. The Himalayan handled it all without hesitation and New Zealand keeps on giving.

I will ride with these guys again in the future and strongly encourage anyone interested to reach out to Phil, Randal, and

I recently completed the 6-Day Northern Explorer Trip, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The itinerary was thoughtfully planned, making the entire journey smooth, safe, and enjoyable. The near-new Himalayan motorcycles were perfectly suited to the varied terrain—from winding sealed roads to gravel sections—almost always with light traffic, as the main highways were largely avoided.

A major highlight was riding the full length of 90 Mile Beach and navigating the Te Paki Stream. Tackling soft sand and water made for an exciting and unforgettable challenge.

Accommodation was excellent throughout, with individual rooms and daily breakfasts adding comfort to each day’s ride.

Overall, it was a well-organized and truly memorable adventure that I highly recommend to anyone looking to explore the Far North on two wheels.
